Early Intervention Support using The KEY WORKER model

The Key Worker Model is designed to provide personalised support to children and families in the early intervention process. A Key Worker acts as a main point of contact, offering guidance, coordination, tailored therapy and assistance throughout your child's developmental journey. The Key Worker Model is widely acknowledged and endorsed as a best practice within Early Childhood Intervention Services, including its recognition and adoption under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

How does the model work?

  • A Key Worker collaborates with you and other professionals to design tailored goals and strategies to suit your child’s needs and development.
  • Provide regular therapy, and education to promote your child's learning and development.
  • Regular monitoring of your child's progress, making adjustments to goals and strategies as needed.
  • Therapy is delivered either in the family home, community, clinic, childcare, preschool or school.

Comprehensive Care

Holistic approach to your child's development, addressing various aspects including but not limited to:

  • Communication and language skills
  • Fine and gross motor skills
  • Behaviour
  • Emotional regulation
  • Social development
  • School readiness
  • Self care skills
  • Literacy support
  • Inclusion support in early childhood and school settings

Benefits for families

  • A Key Worker is your main therapist, reducing the stress of managing multiple appointments and professionals for families and when required, assists with organising other therapists/support services.
  • Dedicated advocate, empowering your family throughout the intervention journey.
  • Advocacy ensures that your child receives personalised, effective and comprehensive care.
  • They empower parents and caregivers with knowledge about interventions and strategies that can be implemented at home to support their child's progress.
